Shiatsu session in Cove Burgh Hall
Bodywork combining wisdom from
East Asian and Western medicine
‘In Zen it is important to have a good master. In Shiatsu your patient is your master.’
- Shizuto Masunaga, Zen Shiatsu, 1977
My name is Britta Letz and I am a student of Shiatsu.
In a Shiatsu session, you will be enveloped in a nurturing environment where skilled hands work to enhance your physical self-awareness and restore balance whenever possible. Through mindful touch and rhythmic pressure, Shiatsu promotes deep relaxation and provides a sense of rest - a necessary part of our well-being.
Shiatsu literally translates as ‘finger pressure’ and is also called the art of touch.
Shiatsu, originating in Japan, is deeply rooted in oriental philosophy but blends with Western medical theory. At the core of this therapeutic practice lies the mindful touch of the hands, utilising specific pressure points akin to acupuncture during a treatment.
Shiatsu aims to understand the person through oriental diagnosis and treat them accordingly. The main effect of the treatment can be a state of flow in the receiving body, where the mind and body relax, leading to an unwinding of tissues and thoughts.
What my clients say
Karen Sutherland
‘My treatment with Britta was quite possibly one of the best treatments I have ever had. Britta knew instinctively the areas that required work and the pressure and flow of the treatment was exactly what I asked for, and more. Britta instantly allowed me to feel at ease and the treatment itself felt like a giant hug, I felt held and safe and afterwards I felt such a release, physically and mentally. I would highly recommend Britta for a treatment. I am so glad our paths have crossed and I am.already looking forward to my next treatment.
Absolutely fantastic therapist.’

I recently had a shiatsu from Britta and I was absolutely blown away. I am qualified in shiatsu myself and can honestly say it was one of the best treatments I've ever had. The quality of touch and connectedness was wonderful and the treatment left me feeling renewed and refreshed throughout the entire day. Britta has a really unique approach to shiatsu and I myself will be looking to have further treatments with her. Many thanks. Margo

I had a wonderful session with Britta. I came feeling quite overwhelmed emotionally and had been suffering from insomnia for a week. Britta held the space for me to let go and trust my body to do what it needed to do. I felt cared for throughout the session, and so even during the consultation. I left feeling rejuvenated and centred. I also had the best sleep that night. Thank you Britta! Looking forward to our next session!
